Copyright Notice
Copyright Notice
Applies to: all 6 EP Journals Group journals.
Effective: 1 May 2026, version 1.0.
1. Authors keep their copyright
Authors of articles published in Journal of Natural Science Research and Review retain full copyright in their work. EP Journals Group does not request, receive, or hold a copyright transfer at any point in the editorial or publishing process. The author is the legal copyright holder of the article in perpetuity.
This applies to every article type we publish: original research, review articles, short communications, case studies, methodological notes, and editorial pieces. It applies equally to electronic and (where applicable) print versions, and to any future formats in which the article may appear.
2. License granted to the publisher
In exchange for editorial, peer-review, copy-editing, typesetting, DOI registration, hosting, and long-term preservation, the author grants EP Journals Group a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to publish, distribute, and disseminate the article. Specifically, this license allows us to:
- Publish the article in Journal of Natural Science Research and Review's electronic edition (and print edition where applicable).
- Distribute the article through the journal site, indexing services, and long-term preservation networks (PKP|PN, LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, Zenodo, Internet Archive).
- Register a CrossRef DOI for the article and supply CrossRef with article metadata.
- Reproduce excerpts of the article in journal promotional or educational materials, with attribution.
Because this license is non-exclusive, the author can also license the work to others, deposit it in any repository, translate it, or reuse it in subsequent publications, without our permission.
3. License under which articles are published: CC BY 4.0
Every article in Journal of Natural Science Research and Review is released under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. The full legal text is available at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.
We embed a CC BY 4.0 statement on the first page of every article PDF, and we include the license URL in the article's CrossRef metadata. This means CC BY 4.0 is enforceable not only by way of statement but also through the article's machine-readable metadata.
4. What CC BY 4.0 lets readers do
Under CC BY 4.0, anyone — readers, students, libraries, AI training systems, commercial publishers, news media, government bodies — may freely:
- read, download, and store the article
- distribute it in print or electronic form
- include it in repositories, course packs, anthologies, or edited collections
- translate it into any language
- adapt it: abridge, remix, build derivative works, integrate into textbooks
- use it commercially: include in for-profit products and services
- mine it for text and data, including as input to machine-learning training
- cite it in policy briefs, regulatory submissions, and professional practice contexts
The only condition is attribution: the user must credit the original author by name, link to the CC BY 4.0 license, and indicate whether they have made changes to the work. They must not imply that the original author endorses their reuse, unless the original author has explicitly given that endorsement.
5. Author self-archiving rights
Authors may deposit any version of their article — the preprint, the author's accepted manuscript (after peer review but before our copy-editing), or the published version of record — in any repository, immediately on publication, with no embargo period. This includes institutional repositories, subject repositories (SSRN, RePEc, PhilPapers, arXiv, bioRxiv, PsyArXiv, etc.), funder-mandated repositories (Europe PMC, OSTI), and general-purpose archives (Zenodo, OSF, Figshare).
We ask authors to include a citation to the Journal of Natural Science Research and Review publication and a link to the article's DOI when they deposit a version elsewhere.
6. Third-party content inside articles
Articles sometimes include figures, tables, photographs, or other materials whose copyright is held by parties other than the author. The article's CC BY 4.0 license does not extend to such third-party content unless that content is itself released under CC BY 4.0 or a compatible license.
Authors are responsible for clearing permissions for any third-party material they include, and for documenting these permissions in the article's Acknowledgements or Permissions section. Re-users of the article must respect the third-party copyright of any non-CC BY 4.0 elements.
7. Distinction from website terms
The terms above apply to the scholarly content (articles) published in Journal of Natural Science Research and Review. They do not apply to the journal's website itself — the page design, navigation, editorial commentary, announcements, and visual identity. Those website elements remain the copyright of EP Journals Group as publisher and are not licensed under CC BY 4.0. Reuse of website design elements requires separate written permission.
8. Permission requests outside CC BY 4.0
CC BY 4.0 covers ordinary scholarly reuse. Some unusual uses may benefit from explicit written permission — for example, using an article in a context that might otherwise be construed as endorsement, or bulk redistribution where the licensor wishes the reuse to be acknowledged. Permission requests should be addressed to editor@ep-journals.org. The editorial office responds within 5 working days. Permissions are granted at no charge for non-commercial uses and for most commercial uses, provided attribution is preserved.
9. Allegations of copyright infringement
There are two distinct cases:
An article in Journal of Natural Science Research and Review is alleged to infringe a third party's copyright. Send the allegation, with supporting evidence, to editor@ep-journals.org. We investigate under our research integrity procedures and may correct, retract, or otherwise remedy the article in line with COPE guidance.
A third party has misused or infringed an article published in Journal of Natural Science Research and Review. The author retains copyright and is therefore the appropriate party to pursue the matter. The journal will provide reasonable supporting documentation on request.
10. Governance
This Copyright Notice is reviewed annually by the EP Journals Group editorial committee. Material changes are announced on the journal homepage at least 30 days before they take effect and apply prospectively to new submissions. Already-published articles retain the CC BY 4.0 licensing in effect on the day of publication; this is not retroactively alterable.
Effective: 1 May 2026 (v1.0). Replaces all earlier journal-level copyright statements at EP Journals Group titles.
